WebFeb 8, 2014 · Exactly the same thing happened to me, and so I rang Sky and told them that my box had failed, and because of this there was no point paying for their service anymore, so I want to leave. They offered me a new 500GB box for (I think) around £65 if I fitted it myself. Read another post about errors on the drive and doing a planner rebuild, so did the rebuild and turned auto standby back on. This morning no problems, box fired up as normal. The box I bought on Ebay was pretty new and the latest type, it came from someone who appears to specialise in Sky equipment. The one it replaced was eleven years old with a minor fault.
