Can I use some wire taps, and splice into the 12V cigarette lighter socket without causing any issues (ie. blowing fuses, burning out wires, damaging equipment). Web17 aug. 2024 · Solder your negative wire to to the solder point where your LED is soldered to the side contact. What this does is allow 12v direct through the wires to your device and 12v to the resistor to drop it down to stop burning out the LED. The Resistor and LED are not required so can be cut out/removed if desired. Share.

Already have upgraded wiring to the rear socket which is directly connected to battery using heavier guage wire, but had the auto sparky do that one. I 'should' be able to this one myself. I need to re do my UHF as well so might fix it up whilst i have the dash apart.

If you by accident wire it backwards, you will blow both the cig fuse (15A?) and the in-line fuse.
