Web1 jul. 1993 · Indeed, 8 out of the 13 explored genes had slippery sites (C-TTC-AAG and GCC-AAG-C) that are commonly inducing frameshifts at 'hungry' lysine codons (42). Web18 jan. 2011 · Background Animal mitochondrial genomes typically encode one tRNA for each synonymous codon family, so that each tRNA anticodon essentially has to wobble to recognize two or four synonymous codons. Several factors have been hypothesized to determine the nucleotide at the wobble site of a tRNA anticodon in mitochondrial …
Web19 dec. 2024 · Most known cases of programmed +1 frameshifting take place at locations where ribosomes have reduced ability to decode the A-site codon, i.e. at so-called hungry codons corresponding to rare tRNAs as in the TY1 element or at a stop codon in a weak terminating context (68, 69). Web18 jun. 2015 · Only one of these, mtRF1a (mtRF1L), has had a clearly defined physiological function ascribed to it. This protein recognises stop codons UAA and UAG to facilitate release activity . Both ICT1 and C12orf65 are smaller proteins in part due to the loss of the codon recognition domains.

Web6 aug. 2024 · First, within our VapC4 5′-OH RNA-seq datasets, we saw the hallmarks of ribosome stalling at several hundred Mtb transcripts. Each stalling event is readily detected because there is a conspicuous ∼15 nt distance in this 5′-OH RNA-seq dataset to an in-frame “hungry” Cys codon requiring the depleted tRNA (Fig. 4 A and B).
Web‘hungry’ codons, and this effect is also most severe in relA mutant cells (reviewed by Gallant et al., 2000). In this communication, we inquire into the way in which a ‘hungry’ codon elicits ribosome bypassing. Our preferred interpretation was that ribosome stalling per se permitted time for unorthodox ribosome movements.
