The Reserve also includes a Lighthouse, which was built in 1861, as well as the largest South African flag in the world flying from the tallest flagpole in Africa.

The lighthouse became partially obscured when the 1820 Settler's Monument, the Campanile, was built. The tower had to be increased in height by nine metres.
